Individual panel vacancies are advertised throughout the year as they arise. When recruiting, we actively try to achieve a balance of skills and experience to meet the requirements of each panel and route at any given time. Route panel members are, without exception, outstanding representatives of the industries in which they work, carefully selected to undertake this important role. Members offer their time and expertise on a voluntary basis, although we reimburse all reasonable travel and expenses and pay route panel chairs a nominal fee to cover the additional elements of their role. Route panel members are sometimes also called on to act as ambassadors for IfATE, speaking at sector conferences and sharing their perspectives with other employers and stakeholders. support and oversee the review of existing apprenticeship standards.make recommendations on funding bands for apprenticeship standards.review and make recommendations to IfATE’s Compliance Board on whether or not to approve apprenticeship proposals, standards and assessment plans, as well as the content of T Level qualifications.Panel members meet every eight weeks to consider submissions from trailblazer groups (groups of employers who come together to create new apprenticeships) and T Level panels (groups of employers and training experts who work together to create new technical qualifications). They do this by maintaining a strategic overview of their sectors, using ‘ occupational maps’ to identify potential skills gaps or overlaps and ensure that new apprenticeship standards and T Level qualifications work together to provide clear pathways for career progression. Route panels are responsible for ensuring that apprenticeship standards and T Level qualifications are high quality and meet the needs of employers, apprentices, students and the economy at large. Panel members are experts in their industry, characterised by their exceptional occupational knowledge and experience and critical grasp of the current and future skills needs of their sectors. Our 15 route panels represent the employer voice within IfATE.
